Soudronic PCB Repair

This came to us as faulty, no idea what the fault is but swapping it out fixed the machine.
There was no clearly failed components, as is with the majority of boards we see. With this kind of repair there is no quick solution and you have to just get stuck in and test every component in turn.
We reverse engineered the power supply connections to power up the card which let us test the regulator and ICs. One failed in and out of circuit so we replaced all ICs as a precaution. One of the ICs (a MC14584) was out of stock in the correct package so we found a CD40106 that was functionally the same. Being able to do this enabled us to complete the urgent repair in under 24 hours.
We repair lots of drives, power supplies and HMIs, but generic PCBs such as this are well within our capabilities and we always attempt to fully test as much as possible.
